Luke Adam will join Mark Mancari as a career AHL'er.

-He doesn't want to play wing.
-Mathew Coller writes: "Adam certainly isn't a fourth-line center"
-His faceoffs and defense isn't strong enough for a 3rd line center

Therefore he is competing to make any given NHL team as a 1st or 2nd line center.
He has more talent than many in the NHL. However, he is not playing better than any 1st or 2nd line centers in the NHL.

Rochester is cock full o'centres right now with Kevin Porter, Cody Hodgson, Phil Varone, Rick Schofield and rookie Kevin Sundher all fighting for ice time. - Garth

I'm not sure where the high expectations came from to begin with. The first thing that was evident about the guy that first time he stepped onto the ice at the professional level as that the guy doesn't really skate. He just runs on the ice.

i'm the guy at the 6 second mark in the blue shirt with white sleeves at the bottom left of the tv scoreboard clapping, being at that game in berlin was an awesome experience.

Thank you! Finally! To me there isn't a whole lot of upside to his game. He could be a good third liner somewhere but not Buffalo....trade 'em.

I like his game and grit , but he always looks a step slow . He is missing the top gear.

What kills me is when I'm at a game watching him and he's watching the game. There are plenty of NHL guys that size who can't fly up and down the ice. But they learn to play positional hockey and they keep their legs moving. And when presented with the opportunity they will use their size and paste somebody into the boards. Adam is a spectator and softer than Charmin.

I don't know that anyone has ever said that Luke Adam has grit. I think he could be a decent player, but I'm sick of decent players. I'd rather the roster spot go to someone who works his ass off every night.

I thought maybe the demotion to Rochester last year would light a fire under his ass. I was wrong. I saw him a few games later in Cleveland against the Lake Erie Monsters, and he looked like he was just going through the motions.

If they can pair him up with someone in a trade package, I'd be all for it.

I doubt this second chance will work out. If he starts lighting it up, lets just hope the season kicks in and we could possibly parlay him in to a trade for something we need. Also, I thought Girgensons was supposed to be a center? I can understand starting someone first year pro at wing to get him used to the game, but I'd also like to see a Girgensons/Grigorenko 1-2 punch a few years down the road on the big club. WHile the sabres look stocked at center, I don't think this is going to be the last time we hear a story like this. We don't need tons of centers, we need 2 or 3 legit centers.

High expectations from his production in Juniors and winning Rookie of the Year in the AHL.

Decent hands for a bigger guy but its a moot point at the NHL when you cant move like an NHL player.
